What the law actually requires
- Annual requirement. Every employer with one or more employees in Illinois must provide sexual-harassment-prevention training to every employee, every year.
- Model content. IDHR publishes the model program. Training must match or exceed it: prohibited conduct definitions with examples, unlawful behaviors summary, state/federal rights and remedies, and employer duties.
- Employer duties. Proof of completion must be kept and produced on IDHR request. Failure to train is an IHRA violation.
- New hires. Train promptly after hire; annually thereafter.
